Alice Park Community Garden launch event 2013

Saturday 20 July, 1 pm to 3.30 pm

Alice Park Community Garden launch event

We’ve come a long way!

Alice Park Community Garden, a local project run by volunteers in Larkhall, invites all to its official launch on Saturday 20 July from 1 pm to 3.30 pm.  The volunteers will be celebrating new Lottery funded improvements including a fabulous oak framed shelter.  Three years of hard work transformed the original piece of waste ground into a thriving community space used by people of all ages.

We’re excited to announce that the acclaimed local folk/gypsy jazz band Owl In The Sun (two members hail from Batheaston) will be providing the music! All welcome – come early and bring a picnic or alternatively buy your refreshments from the lovely Alice Park Café. Plus FREE children’s activities from Wild Things, the outdoor children’s playgroup which meets weekly at the community garden. The event will also feature the Amazing Wellstead Roundabout – bring your toys for a ride on the miniature roundabout!

More about Owl In The Sun:

“Absolutely gorgeous!” Fearne Cotton, BBC Radio 1

Selected to perform on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury 2011, the band have also featured on the BBC Radio 1 playlist and were finalists for the UK’s Isambard Nu-Folk Award. Blending folky americana with a twist of gypsy jazz, their original songs feature a range of acoustic instruments with rich vocal harmonies.

Calling all volunteers: If you can spare half an hour or an hour on the day to help with the community garden stall or can donate cakes, jams, chutneys, plants or anything else you’ve produced, please contact or 07875 986399

Congratulations to Fi for a successful application to BIBS for Alice Park Community Garden.  Her application was for funding towards a programme of activities aimed at local children who don’t have access to a garden.  She and Tabitha are starting work on recruiting this week.

And many many thanks to BIBS.
